All about a First Look!
With spring upon us (I’m obsessed, have you noticed?) it means wedding season it about to kick into high gear! We get asked all the time about a First Look, what exactly is it and why do we recommend?
Let us start by saying there is no right or wrong way to schedule your couples portraits - and your decision will either come down to personal / religious preference or simply how it best fits within the day of schedule. What we love about a first look is that it give you, the couple, a chance to be together before the hustle and bustle of the day really starts. You can enjoy your portrait session without feeling guilty for leaving guests a cocktails too long, or feeling rude that you need to part from your well wishers to get the images in. In our experiences, First Looks are often a much more relaxed approach.
We often hear objection about them because the couple wants the “first sighting” to be down the aisle. From experience - and I’m talking our own wedding, not just the hundreds we’ve photographed - that moment of seeing each other down the aisle will be every bit as emotion with or without a first look! (This is where I tell the internet that Mark definitely cried during my procession. I was pleased - ha!)
